A funny note about the bash shell

Did you know that while in the bash shell (on debian for example) it may be possible that if you use cat and the file contains the right sequence of non-printable character (binary for instance) information it may be possible to not only corrupt the shell to the point that it is not usable, but also write arbitrary data to the file system as the userid of the person running bash?

It’s true 🙂
